Nominators Comment Yan Shanchun is a modern Chinese artist who continues to create representational works that depict his hometown; using Chinese ink and acrylic paints on large canvases he depicts the West Lake of Hangzhou. From the delicate and soft white screen, one is able to see his strong volition. His works are mainly in drypoint, however his recent works include lithography. He is a vice president and professor of Shenzhen Fine Art Institute.
